Press Release on the Meeting on August 11

The China International Pharmaceutical Industry Exhibition (CHINA-PHARM), co-organized by the China Center for Pharmaceutical International Exchange and Messe Düsseldorf China Ltd., has been successfully held for 10 versions. During the last ten years, CHINA-PHARM and its exhibitors have made joint contributions to the development of Chinese pharmaceutical industry and the implementation of drug GMP certification. Attracting close attention from the industry colleagues, CHINA-PHARM has grown up to be a famous international trade fair.

Since 2004 when achievements were made on GMP certification by Chinese pharmaceutical industry, the pharmaceutical machinery, equipment and packaging sections have been making consistent efforts to find new business opportunities and direction of development. With the ever increasing international exchanges, more and more domestic industry insiders are looking to have more opportunities to align with the world. In face of the dynamic changes of the industry and the increasingly intensified competition, CHINA-PHARM undertakes to act as a barometer and a communication platform for the industry.

On August 11, the “CHINA-PHARM Talkfest on the Development of the Industry” was held at Hotel Nikko New Century Beijing. Around 60 representatives from the Government, associations, media, pharmaceutical enterprises and pharmaceutical equipment enterprises attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Yu Mingde, Executive Vice President of the China Pharmaceutical Enterprise Management Association made a report on the “Situations and tasks faced by the pharmaceutical industry”, disclosing the development situations of Chinese pharmaceutical industry, and the management direction & operation trend of pharmaceutical enterprises. Mr. Zhao Yajun, director of the China Center for Pharmaceutical International Exchange, elaborated the preparatory work of CHINA-PHARM, including the preparation of CHINA-PHARM 2006 exhibition and forum, exhibition area, updates on space booking and visitor organization, etc. Boosting 21000 square meters of exhibition area covering total 6 halls, CHINA-PHARM is expected to welcome about 350 exhibitors. National Pavilions from Germany, Italy, Japan, and South Korea, etc., will participate in the exhibition. Currently, 90% of the total exhibition space has been booked up. Visitor services for CHINA-PHARM 2006 will also be upgraded, in addition to one-to-one invitation of professional buyers, direct mailing of printed badge, and promotion of on-line pre-registration. Over 6000 visitors are going to receive their badges by direct mail, thus saving their time for entry. Those with VIP badges will be entitled to free catalogues, free tea and coffee, and free Internet access on the site, among all other VIP services offered free of charge to the pre-registered visitors. We will also provide visitor guides at the grounds with exhibitor indices clearly sorted by exhibit categories, initial letters and booth numbers, thus to help visitors find their target exhibitors in the shortest time. Domestic trade associations, including the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, China Nonprescription Medicines Association, China Pharmaceutical Association of Plant Engineering, China Pharmaceutical Packaging Industry Association, China Pharmaceutical Industry Association and China Food and Packaging Machinery Industry Association, as well as international professional organizations from India, Japan, South Korea, Russia, etc., will all organize visitor groups to the fair.

Also at the meeting, focusing on the topic of CHINA-PHARM, Mr. Zhao Yajun introduced the major activities for international pharmaceutical exchanges carried out by the China Center for Pharmaceutical International Exchange, including special-purpose technology and equipment promotions, government official training, various meetings between the Government and enterprises, and organizing domestic pharmaceutical enterprises to take part in international exchanges, such as BIO 2007 Chinese delegation, PHARMINTECH2007 Chinese pavilion, etc.
Exhibitor representatives and buyer representatives (pharmaceutical plant) also made speeches putting forward their expectations on the fair that would help the organizers improve their work, and turn CHINA-PHARM into an international two-way trade platform.

During the meeting, a preliminary consensus on the establishment of CHINA-PHARM salon was reached in a wish to provide more and better platforms of exchanges and discussions within the pharmaceutical industry through top-level salon activities.

As the talkfest came to an end, representatives bid farewell to each other and expressed their wishes to meet again in Beijing in November 2006!
